1998
PII incorporation
The roots of the PII story can be traced back to one man, Mick
Finn, and his 20 years spent working in distribution and export
for CSR Building Products across PNG and the Pacific Islands.
When CSR decided to disband the division, Mick and his wife
Carol took it over as a new company they named Pacific Islands
International (PII) – the first in a fleet of businesses that would
eventually come under the umbrella of parent company, the Finn
Pacific Group.
2000
Thuringowa Drive office
Business grew quite quickly for Pl I in the early days and the
expanding staff outgrew the garage. In the year 2000, Mick and
Carol found a new office, an old house, on Thuringowa Drive in
Kirwan Townsville.
This would be home for PII over the following 16 years. A young
Ashley Finn joined the company in 2002.
2003
Expansion
Mick was always looking for an opportunity to expand his
business and purchased the Willows Mitre 10 in Townsville.
After a couple of years, Mick started Finn’s Panel Solutions,
supplying boards and accessories to the North Queensland
cabinet industry. Mick and Carol’s eldest daughter Renee
managed both businesses over this time.
2005
China office opening
During Mick’s CSR days, he had spent a lot of time in China and
through his contacts had formed a great friendship with Mr
Huang, a Chinese national from Xuzhou, Jiangsu.
In 2005, along with Mr Huang, Mick opened the PII China
Division and this quickly grew to four staff.
2008
Mick Finn sadly passes away
Mick passed away by the beach in Mexico on the 15th December,
2008 surrounded by his family, on the holiday he loved so dear.
Mick will be sorely missed but never forgotten as our companies
grow from his work.
2009
Ashley and Renee, become PII company directors
In keeping with Mick’s vision for the future, Ashley Finn and
Renee Finn have joined Carol Finn as new Company Directors.
2013
PII expands network to include Timor Leste
2015
China office celebrates 10 years

Company moves to Mick Finn House, Townsville
Andrew Dreger appointed PII General Manager
2018
PII celebrate 20 years
PII celebrates 20 years in business. PII is a Queensland Regional
Exporter of the Year finalist.
2021
PII rebrands
PII Sales team can’t travel due to pandemic – Develops new
operating system & rebrands
2023 - 2024
PII celebrate 25 years
PII celebrates 25 years in business.
